Search Mitchell County Court Records

That means records not found online, older records, records needing staff help, sealed or restricted files, and certified copies should be handled through the Clerk of the District Court at 115 S Hersey.

What Mitchell County Court Records Show

Mitchell County Public Access Rules
Kansas public access works through both the Kansas Open Records Act and court-specific rules. K.S.A. 45-216 through 45-223 states the Kansas Open Records Act framework for public agency records. For court files, Kansas Supreme Court Rule 106 and Rule 106B control court-record custody, electronic access, and confidentiality.

Sealed Mitchell County Court Records
Not every Mitchell County court record is public. Juvenile offender and child-in-need-of-care records have limited access. Adoption files, mental health and care-and-treatment records, protected addresses, medical details, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, and minor information may be withheld or redacted. Some protection order materials are restricted to protect safety.
Expungement also changes access. K.S.A. 21-6614 allows eligible convictions, arrest records, and diversion agreements to be expunged after statutory conditions are met. Juvenile expungement is handled separately under K.S.A. 38-2312. A sealed or expunged case may still be available for certain court, law enforcement, licensing, or statutory purposes even when the public cannot view it.
