Booking, Bond, and Court Timing
The jail bonding page says that if bond has been set, every effort will be made to allow an inmate to arrange bond. For a cash/surety bond, the person posting for an inmate must pay ten percent of the bond amount in cash only unless other arrangements are made directly with a bonding agent. For a cash-only bond, the full amount must be paid in exact cash.
Felony charges require the court to set bond, and the jail warns that it could take up to 48 hours for bond to be set. That timing is important for families checking custody immediately after an arrest. A person held for another county should have bond, charge, and court-date questions directed to the county where the person was arrested or is serving time.

Visitation Hours and Rules
Mitchell County Jail uses InmateSales video visitation. All potential visitors must register an account and schedule through InmateSales, and on-site registration is available on visitation days only. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Each inmate is allowed two 25-minute visits per weekend. Inmates serving short-term probation violations are not eligible for visitation under the published policy.

Visitors must provide state or government photo ID, wear proper attire, and follow conduct rules. Recently released inmates and people on probation may not schedule visits. Visitors may be subject to warrant and criminal-history checks, and refusal of a pat-down search can result in denial. Cell phones, tobacco, food or drinks, cameras, radios, drugs, intoxicating beverages, firearms, weapons, knives, and sharp objects are prohibited during video visitation.
How to Contact an Inmate
All incoming mail must come through the U.S. Postal Service and should be addressed to the inmate at Mitchell County Sheriff Office, P.O. Box 338, Beloit, KS 67420. Only the inmate’s name/address and the sender’s return address are allowed on the envelope. Extra markings or graffiti can cause return to sender. Non-legal incoming mail is opened and inspected; legal mail is opened and inspected in the inmate’s presence.
The jail uses Combined Public Communications for phone service. Inmates with phone privileges may make collect calls or use a Chirping device for text messages. Tiger account funds can be used to buy prepaid CPC calling cards in $5, $10, and $20 amounts. Funds can also be added to an inmate phone account by contacting CPC at 1-877-998-5678. Calls are outgoing only.
The jail FAQ also gives several practical limits that affect inmate-contact questions. The jail does not deliver personal messages, does not disclose transportation timing for another county, and cannot tell callers how much money an inmate has on the account. Medication may be brought to the Law Enforcement Center only if it is in the original pharmacy-issued container and can be visually verified. Inmate property may be released only after the inmate completes a Release of Property form naming the recipient, and the recipient must show proper identification. Evidence property questions go to the arresting agency.

Commissary and Inmate Funds
The jail uses Tiger to track inmate accounts. Cash is accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center, but no money is accepted during weekend visitation. Money orders, certified checks, and traveler’s checks are accepted in person or by mail and should be made payable to the inmate. Personal checks are not accepted. Web deposits use Tiger Commissary with Visa, Mastercard, or Discover.
Commissary orders are placed Monday night and should arrive Thursday. Items can include hygiene, candy or snacks, beverages, clothing, medical items, stationery, and miscellaneous items. Inmates must keep a minimum positive balance of $5 for incidentals that cannot be used for commissary orders. Indigent inmates cannot order commissary, and basic needs are supplied by the jail. Short-term probation-violation inmates are not eligible for commissary. Online commissary is limited to hygiene, clothing, stationery, and medical items.
